From 2005 tiny independent label Seksound has been presenting a selection of what´s happening in the alternative music scene in Estonian through a compilation Kohalik ja Kohatu, pt 3 of which is almost here and now - released on January 14.
The Seksound´s choice selection of 20 artists provides a view of Estonian indie in different tones and hues. It features crisp and fresh Picnic and youthful lack of Eoins and proudly presents the new heights of Ans.Andur, Honey Power, and Köök. Imandra Lake offers a dose of massive shoegaze in Estonian and Bad Apples dedicates their brilliant Lead Sister to Karen Carpenter. Taking a slight bend the music turns avant garde in a sincere way with a teenage girl-group Plixid and moves towards perfect pop with worthy 3Pead. The compilation features also the coolest girl around, home-recording UnCandy. The music of Ewert & The Two Dragons lends the comp a mysteriously pop touch and a sweet troubadourish atmosphere is created with the appearance of Barbariz. Jaan Pärn & Pahad Seemned introduces South-Estonian pop and rock. The popular and beloved Marten Kuningas has moved to quite different qualities with his band Leegitsev Sidrun and another young and fierce south-Estonian duo Badass Yuki thrills with abstracted noisepop. Mooses, Music For Your Plants, Tolmunud Mesipuu, and Wrupk Urei give a proper charge of post-rock .Vaiko Eplik educates the listeners on sexual secrets.
There is also another reason to celebrate the release of Kohalik ja Kohatu 3 - in five years Seksound has released a quarter of hundred musical masterpieces.
The compilation comes with two concerts, one in Tallinn, club Korter on January 14th, the other in Tartu´s Plink Plonk on January 16th.
The Tallinn concert features live performance by Leegitsev Sidrun, Honey Power, and 3Pead and dj-s Tauno Pääslane, Heiki Lepist, and Foto.
Tartu concert presents lives by Picnic, Wrupk Urei, and lack of Eoins, joined by dj-s Huns, Tõnis Kenkmaa, and Eve Komp.
Both concerts start at 9 PM and the ticket is 75.-

THE AUTUMN PEOPLE

Seksound is proud to announce that second album "The Autumn People" by Estonian indiepop group Bad Apples is released on October 1st.
Bad Apples started in 2003 as a bedroom project, young guy Henrik Esse was one mastermind behind it. Those recordings were heard by people behind local indielabel Seksound. Thanks to their support first album was recorded and a small group of musicians gathered around Henrik and Bad Apples. Supporting female vocalist is Helina Risti, on other instruments you'll find Rein Fuks (Pia Fraus, Popidiot), Tõnis Kenkmaa (Pia Fraus) and Rivo Järvsoo (Picnic). Their first album "When Colours Become Day And Night" was released in 2006. New album is less punkier, it's like baroque pop on indie world, getting influences from 60s music, from proper pop music to west coast psychedelia. Vivid examples would include pop giants Serge Gainsbourg, The Carpenters, Juan Garcia Esquivel. Henrik said that he wants to make estrada music (I can imagine it's huge musical area from Burt Bacharach classics to great soviet pop), but he doesn't have big orchestra. I can hear that idea materialize in Bad Apples way.

In the end of July we released EP "Friday's Remixes" by Finnish-Estonian synthpop group Popidiot. You get new versions of mainly Friday-themed tracks from their much acclaimed second album "Antenna of Love".
Nice surprise is version of "Hanging on Friday" sung in Estonian, it's now "Mängin muusikat" and features Estonian country legend Jaan Elgula. Cool treat is also video of "Hanging on Friday" made by young Estonian filmmakers. Additionally you get many remixes from "Friday's Revenge" by Estonian producers, but also "Logic" and "Dreamsong" got some remixing.

We are not kidding, Estonian indielabel Seksound releases third official album "Kiletron" by Ans. Andur on April 1.
Four guys from Paide, from the heart of Estonia, have written, mixed and recorded new album together this time. Self-conscious album will be loved by old friends and can satisfy curious indie fanatics, who don't mind Estonian language and Nordic indie sound. Ans. Andur is pretty popular among Estonian indie fans, who have waited their new album eagerly. On new album they are still keen on with witty lyrics and catchy melodies and are exploring some new territories like country or baroque electronics.

Seksound releases the new album "Antenna of Love" by Popidiot on Estonian Independence Day, 24th February. Popidiot is Estonian-Finnish electropop group of two mad scientists Matti Peura and Hendrik Luuk, who have wrote all the songs on the record and made all the arrangements with the guitarist Rein Fuks, who is the important third member.
We can't be more proud of their new album, you can't believe, how good it is. There hasn't been made such a record before in Estonia. It's a nice dance music album, greatly produced and with cool lyrics. It's full of great songs, all killers, no fillers. Name your favorite synthpop, electropop or indiepop sounds and you find it here. Popidiot's sound is heavily influenced by synthpop classics like New Order, Human League or Depeche Mode. That means this album can be loved also by fans of contemporary electropop acts like Hot Chip, Cut Copy or Regina. Popidiot is also well-loved live group, they have supported Pet Shop Boys and Klaxons. This album truly captures the energy of their live shows.
